Getting Ready to Play.
To play soccer you have to do a few things.
The Details

Registration/tryouts
-
We hope to fill 3-4 teams each season.
-
Each season is new in that every athlete must tryout or will be placed on the lowest team they are eligible by age.
-
There is no guaranteed spot on a team, simply by playing on that team the previous year. The coaching staff will make every attempt to play athletes at the level that is closest to their skill level, experience and ability. This will ensure the success of every athlete and the team.
-
Registration fees are set by isd622. Fee support is available for qualifying families. You must complete the "application for educational benefit" form.
Equipment
-
Soccer shoes/cleats
-
Running shoes are need for running or indoor practices.
-
Shin guards must meet the NOCSAE specifications. The NOCSAE seal and the appropriate height range of the player shall appear stamped on the shin guard. Players must have shin guards with the height stamped on the front.
-
A soccer ball is not required, but highly recommended for training outside of practice.
-
We believe all should have the opportunity to play. If you need support with cleats or shin pads contact coach for access to our gently used bin. Feel free to donate as well.
Grades
-
Soccer is considered an extra-curricular activity, meaning it is something that happens beyond the required school day. School must come first for all athletes. If a student is having trouble in a certain subject, the soccer coaches will make every effort to help that student get back on track and get back on the field. This may include mandatory study halls before school. Even though the athletes are playing soccer, they are students first.
-
Per district policy students must be "on track to graduate".
-
Coaches will be checking athletes' grades periodically throughout the season.
Attendance
-
Each athlete is expected to be at every practice during the season. Practice will be held every day during the week except on game days. Also, some Saturdays may be necessary.
-
During the school year, practices will be held from 3:00-5:00pm at Tartan. Exception may occur.
-
If, for some reason, a player misses practice (unexcused), then that player will not participate in the first half of the next game.
-
Depending upon the reason for the absence, it is the coach’s discretion as to how much that player participates in the next game. It is essential that every player be at practice in order to ensure the success of the team.
-
-
Whenever a player misses practice, or comes late, a note from a parent/teacher must be given explaining the reason for the absence or tardiness.
-
If a player is excused absent from school, no note is necessary.
-
If you skip class or are not in school you are not able to play if it is game day.
-
-
If you anticipate a future absence, please let your coach know the date and reason of the absence.
-
If a player does miss practice, it is possible for that player to “make up” the practice after the next training session.
-
If there is no practice prior to the next game, game time could be impacted.
-
These make-up sessions will be run by the captains.
-
Coaches may exercise discretions as necessary.
